PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has nominated Patriotic Front deputy secretary-general Mumbi Phiri as a Member of Parliament.

According to a statement made available to the Daily Nation by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda, the decision was in exercise of the powers vested in the President under Article 69 (1) of the Constitution of Zambia.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda disclosed that State House has put in place security measure to curb the rampant cases of forged media statements being issued by fraudsters.

He said the Press Office would now stamp and circulate all its statements in PDF or Jipeg formats.

“The media and the general public are hereby informed that the Press Office will now always stamp all its statements and all statements will also be duly signed and initialled on each page,” Mr Chanda said.
