FORMER Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has hailed the Chipolopolo for the spirited fight in Nigeria’s 1-nil win over Zambia in the Group B World Cup qualifier match played on Saturday at the Godswill International Stadium in Uyo.
He told journalists in Nigeria, the Super Eagles team Captain Mikel, said the Zambia had a bright future as it has talented young players.
He said Zambia gave Nigeria a tough time adding that the game with the Chipolopolo boy was very tactical.
He, however, said that the Super Eagles were more technical than the Chipolopolo players hence the reason Nigeria was able to qualify for the 2018 Russia World Cup.
“We are happy to have qualified for the world cup. We prepared adequately for Zambia because we knew that they would give everything to win,
“It was a tough game. We were both tactical in our approach. Zambia is a good team with talented young players and I think the future is very bright for them,” Mikel said.
Mikel said his team was ready for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Super sub Alex Iwobi shattered Zambia’s hope for a maiden feature at the World Cup with his low shot on target which beat Kennedy Mweene to guarantee the Super Eagles the much needed victory.
