FOREIGN coaches are among the applicants eyeing the vacant head coaching job at “Magnificent” Kabwe Warriors.
Sponsors Zambia Railways last week advertised for the positions of head coach, two assistants and goal keeper trainer.
European trainers are among the foreign applicants.
Club chairperson Hayden Dingwall who could not state the actual number of applicants as at yesterday said a good number of foreign and Zambian coaches had applied for the four positions.
“A good number of applications have been received from both foreign and local coaches. I am not in a position to state the figure of applicants so far because it’s not yet the deadline,” Dingwall said.
He emphasised that the objective of the club for 2018 season was to revive the lost glory days.
According to an advert placed in the media, the head coach must have CAF A or B licence with at least five years’ experience while the two assistants must possess a CAF B or C licence with experience as first assistant coach in the Zambian Super League.
The goalkeeper trainer must also be a CAF B or C qualified coach with three years’ experience.
Warriors under coach Elijah Chikwanda narrowly escaped relegation last season after it finished sixth from the bottom with 43 points.
The once upon football power house has five league titles to its name; 1968,1970,1971,1972 and 1987.
Zambian football great Godfrey Chitalu played for the club between 1971 and 1982. In 1972 he scored 107 goals in all competitions for club.
