OVER 100 bikers have confirmed participation in tomorrow’s 130 kilometres Panganini Classic cycling event to be held in Kafue.

Cycling Association of Zambia (CAZ) president Peter Chintu confirmed in an interview yesterday that the event was the eighth leg of the CAZ league and has drawn participation from across Zambia.

Chintu predicted a tough race as the league was three legs away from closing.

“The CAZ league enters round eight on Sunday with over 100 cyclists taking part. The riders will start off from Turn Pike till Kafue Gorge,” he said.

It is expected to be a two-horse race between Agoster Jilowa of North-West cycling club in Solwezi who leads the table with 42 points, a point better than his rival Omma Mweene from Twin Palm club.

Twin Palm’s Michael Olean who has 34 points will be hoping to close in on the gap.

Among the competing clubs are Nakambala, Twin Palm, North Western and Munali.
