THE Lusaka magistrates’ court has denied popular musician Mumba Yachi bail until his lawyers produce a temporary permit allowing him to stay in Zambia from the Immigration Department.
This was in a matter which came up yesterday to either grant him bail or not.
The matter came before magistrate Ruth Kapulo and the accused was represented by a lawyer from Mwenye and Mweetwa Legal Practictioners, Mwape Bwalya.
Magistrate Kapulo said she would not grant bail to the accused because he had no legal temporally permit from the Immigration Department to allow him stay in Zambia freely without interference.
“Bail shall only be granted when the permit is brought before the court, therefore you shall be remanded in custody for fear of being arrested again,” she said.
His lawyer told the court that the permit will be brought before to court before September 18th 2017, the date set for mention.
The matter was adjourned to September 18th 2017 for mention and October 2nd 2017 for commencement of trial.
